Hey, guess what? Your Harry Potter childhood isn’t over yet! Warner Bros just released a movie! Another magical masterpiece by JK Rowling reveals the adventures of a man named Newt Scamander in a time way before the Harry Potter era. It was a time of despair and misery. A time when Gellert Grindelwald possessed the great Elder Wand and creates destruction and havoc trough all of Europe.
Well, there you go. I’m not going to tell you the whole story or it will spoil the fun, which is not a very good thing because, as you know, all Harry Potter related movies are super duper awesome! And talking about the movie, I think I should start the review.
First of all, I just want to say, even though, as we know, JK Rowling writes the best books in the world, this story is not as exciting as her previous novels. Well, nothing can beat Harry Potter. We all know that. But it is still very exciting and the mysteries and adventures taken place in the New York City are very amazing awe-taking.
For a rating, I would give it a 4.5 out of 5 which, I think is an average rating from most of the Potterheads out there. According to the rotten tomatometer, the score for this movie is 76%. But I’d give a bit more than that. Maybe around 90%.
So now, lets talk about the positive stuff. The Fantastic Beasts movie is awesome in many ways. Rowling creates the characters in a unique way. Every character is unique and peculiar in his or her own way. For example, Newt is caring and kind, especially to his beasts. But although having a kind heart, he is quite careless. He often accidenty lets his beasts loose and create all sorts of chaos.
Another bizarre, but amazing thing about the movie is that it’s very modern-like. By that, I mean the scenes are mostly taken place in New York City, which is a normal, muggle-like place. Unlike the Harry Potter movies, the scenes are more taken place in Hogwarts and places very wizard-like. For example, the shops in the movies are ordinary shops like a jewellry shop and a bakery. In Harry Potter, most of the shops sell broomsticks, cloaks and wands.
To me, the movie has just one disadvantage. The characters and plot are not as amazing as Rowling’s previous stories making it not so impressive. But I hope Rowling and the director, David Yates will make a better performance in the next 4 Fantastic Beasts movies to hit the 100% peak on the tomatometer. Until then, au revoir.
