Hey guys! I haven’t written in quite a while, but currently I have this project where I need to write three book reviews, so here I am! I have always been the fiction novel type of person, but recently I have found self-improvement and history books rather amusing.
One of them is Chicken Soup for the Soul. You’ve probably heard of this book since it’s a #1 New York Times Bestseller. If you haven’t, you’re probably thinking why it has such an unusual title. I did too when I first discovered this book. The title literally screams ‘PICK ME UP’ for it’s weird title.
Chicken Soup for the Soul is a collection of stories written by more than 50 writers about their experiences in life. I guess that’s why it is called ‘chicken soup’, because it’s meant to be something that develops a warm connection with the writers as we learn from their mistakes and experiences, just like warm chicken soup!
Each page you turn is a source of inspiration. We get to learn from the writers’ stories about many life topics such as the importance of family and love, the challenges of making all your dreams come true, how we need to keep learning and seeking for new knowledge and many more! This book plays out how people overcome their obstacles and struggles in their everyday life and how beautiful the outcome is when you believe in yourself and commit to your dreams until you succeed. There 101 experience stories in this book, and I am definite you can relate to at least 5 stories, or at least be touched slightly at the heart.
As a whole, I learnt a lot from this book, even though I couldn’t relate to all the stories. With that being said, I also learnt that we live in a world where we all have our own different battles and struggles. We all have different problems, different goals and different life situations. I have also noticed how amazing it is that people from different backgrounds and struggles can live peacefully together in a community.
